Tea Time
2012 - 2013
Acrylic silk screen on silk, polyester and acetate, mixed fibers, place setting, wood occasional tables, wind, camera, street.

Tea Time is a project in two parts. The Table Skirts (2012) objects begin with an acknowledgement of the rural houses which line the interstate highway system, and their inhabitants. These houses often predate road expansion. Having herself lived next to a busy commute corridor, the artist suspects that the inhabitants of these houses may struggle against the ceaseless intrusion of the outside world by attempting to control their domestic settings. Noise being unstoppable, the artist suspects that such attempts would be ultimately futile.

The Tea Time installation exists in its final form only in camera. The Table Skirts have a certain aspect of anthropomorphic resonance, but it is the still frame alone which demonstrates their living nature.
